The resorts of Cala Ratjada (Rajada) and Cala Agulla are in the Municipality of Capdepera an are around 1-1/2 hours drive from Palma de Mallorca. They are top favourites in Mallorca particularly with people from Germany.


Both Cala Ratjada and Cala Agulla sit on opposite sides of the headland but now with tourist development the resorts are now literally joined together. The magnificent beaches and forest regions together with amazing scenery make it beyond doubt one of the most beautiful areas on the island of Mallorca.


 

Beaches

The natural beauty of Cala Agulla fine golden sands, clear blue/green seas against the backdrop of the Mountains has to be seen to be appreciated.

You will find Sunbeds, Parasols, Pedalos on this beach and also snack-bars.

Cala Agulla is very popular with Surfers who come to Surf when the weather produces waves big enough. There can be strong currents on this beach and

we advise you to take notice of the flag displayed.

Following on from Cala Agulla at the end of the beach is the most amazing natural Forest. The Forest area starts near the main road and extends down to the beach and coastline. This is such a beautiful cool place to walk in the Summer and at the end of the forest trail you will find small quieter coves.


Although the sand dunes are protected there is a car park at the rear of the main beach. However you will have to pay a small daily fee during the Tourist Season.


Around Cala Ratjada there are several other beaches. Cala Gat is a small beach with turquoise waters and a sandy bay. You can enjoy a walk here from the Harbour. Son Moll is larger and this is at the opposite side from Cala Agulla. This beach is a good size with Sunbeds, Parasols, Pedalos etc

If you have a car you can also visit the beautiful beaches of Cala Mesquida and Canyamel just a few minutes drive.

Cala Ratjada Harbour

Cala Ratjada Harbour is very picturesque and it is one of the few remaining operational fishing ports in Mallorca where the fisherman even today go out on their boats to bring in the catch of the day!


Various boat trips can be arranged from Ticket/Tour offices in the resorts or from the harbour and from here you can even take a ferry to Menorca for the day!


From the harbour you can enjoy a walk along the Pedestrian Promenade to Son Moll passing a variety of Restaurants specialising in fish. You can then if you wish walk a little further to Font De Sa Cala, a quiet little resort with a small beach some restaurants and a few shops.

Shopping


The resorts of have many shops and boutiques. There is a Lidl Supermarket on the main road as you drive into Cala Ratjada and there are 3 Eroski Supermarkets(chain supermarkets) in the area where you can buy fresh meat/fish and everything you will need for your holiday at very reasonable prices. If you need a Chemist you will find one on the main street, Calle Leonor Servera.


Cala Ratjada Weekly Market

The weekly market is held in the square in Cala Ratjada every Saturday until around 1300. There you can buy all the usual souvenirs including the local cured sausages (Embuits) local Cheeses and freshly cooked Chickens! If you miss this market you can travel to Arta on Tuesday mornings or Capdepera on Wednesdays.

Capdepera Castle

Just a few minutes from the resort is Capdepera where you can visit the historic castle. There are many steps to climb but it's worth it when you reach the top. On a clear day you can see over to the island of Menorca. It is a really beautiful view!

The castle is small but there is a walkway and information. In the square at the bottom of the steps you will find several restaurants, some serving tapas.

Arta

If you visit Arta on a Tuesday you will find a local market. Arta is a beautiful town and is very pleasant to wander around.

Approx 30 minutes drive from Cala Ratjada will take you to Alcudia where you can enjoy a day at the Waterpark (Hidropark). You could also visit the resorts of

Visit Caves of Drach

You could visit the Caves of Drach or Hams with a tour operator or travel independently by car or bus.

The Caves have a magnificent range of Stalagtites/Stalagmites and at the end of the trail through the Caves of Drach, there is a seating area where you can enjoy a boat serenade on the huge underwater lake.

The beach at Son Moll has no natural shade, therefore gets very hot in the Summer, take a parasol!

This tiny little beach is found if you walk from Cala Ratjada Harbour towards Son Moll, the scenery here is beautiful and you can snorkel around the rocks.
