Markets in Mallorca

small market streetWeekly Markets are held in most Resorts and Towns throughout Mallorca. Some of them are fairly large Markets where you will find everything from home grown produce such as cheeses, honey, olives, traditional sausages (sobrasada) etc to sunglasses, clothing and bags (designer of course!). Some of the smaller Markets held in the Villages normally sell fresh produce such as fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Transport

In each area you will normally find a local bus operating to the Market and TIB Buses operate some additional routes. You could also take a local taxi which sometimes works out cheaper than public transport especially if there are more than 2 people to share the cost.

We recommend a visit to the Municipal Markets in Palma where you can choose from a great range of Mallorcan fresh fish, meats and home grown vegetable produce. The quality is amazing and you will find everything is sold at very reasonable prices. The largest and most well-known are L'Olivar in the very centre of Palma and Santa Catalina east of the City beside the Historic Centre. Most of the markets have cafe areas indoor and outdoor where you can enjoy a snack or a drink from one of the stalls.
