Valldemossa, the most famous Village in Mallorca, is perfect for a combined visit with other places of interest


Valldemossa, the most famous Village in Mallorca, is also the most visited by Tourists on organised sightseeing day trips or those making the journey by car. The various organised trips on offer to the Village normally include other stops such as Soller and Deia.


Although a great way to visit Valdemossa is by organised trip, travelling independently by hire car not only provides you with more flexibility with stopping points but allows you to appreciate the most amazing, wonderful scenery along the way.



Driving From Palma


There is a direct route from Palma, take Junction 5B on the MA20 Via Centura Motorway, follow the signs leading to the MA1110 to Valldemossa. The journey takes around 20 minutes.


From Valldemossa, you can also visit Soller or Deia by car in approximately 20 minutes.



Car Parks


In Valldemossa you have a couple of designated parking areas plus blue zones where you can park, costs are similar to other villages. Beside the main parking area is an information office where you can find out more about the region.

Valldemossa Sightseeing - Chopin


One of the main sightseeing attractions in Plaza de Ramon Llull, Valldemossa is the Museum which has an old fashioned Pharmacy.

Situated beside this is the Royal Carthusian Monastery where Frederick Chopin and George Sand spent 8 weeks in 1938. During that time Chopin had the 'Pleyel Piano' delivered from Paris and George Sand wrote his famous book 'A Winter in Mallorca'.

Valldemossa Village


Although the Village is small, it has plenty of character with cobbled streets and quaint buildings. There are a good number of shops for souvenirs, fashions and jewellery plus on Sunday mornings a tiny market is held there adding to the atmosphere. You will find some small hotels and hostals within the narrow streets plus some Cafes and Restaurants where you can have a drink or something to eat.

As you wander along the street Calle de la Rosa, you will come to the Parish Church of Sant Bartomeu (Parroquia de Sant Bartomeu).

Along the way you will notice charming local village houses many with an array of colourful pot plants. In Winter some of the Village residents sit outside their homes enjoying some sunshine, while offering local oranges and lemons to passers by.

As you leave Valldemossa travelling in the direction of Palma on the MA1110, you can see some spectacular views of the Village and Countryside from the road. You also have a prime view of the masses of Almond Blossom trees when you reach the foot of the Tramuntana Mountains. Visiting Valldemossa is a great day trip which you can combine with other sightseeing in the area.
