Soller Train and Tram

Enjoy the wonderful journey on the Soller Vintage Train through the beautiful Mallorcan countryside

The Train to Soller has to be one of the most enjoyable day-trips in Mallorca. This unique journey can easily be organised, without the need of an excursion agency.

The day begins by catching the Vintage Train to Soller from the Ferrocarril Railway Station at the Plaza de Espana in Palma. Make sure you take your phone or camera with you because you will see some of the most magnificent scenery in Mallorca along the way!

Once you arrive in Soller you can continue your journey to the Port (Puerto de Soller) with a connecting Tram.

This is a perfect day out, travelling on the historic Soller Train and Tram, much loved by both Tourists and the local Residents.

Soller Train Journey - Ferrocarril Station

The Soller train operates from the Ferrocarril Station on a separate ground-level railway track directly beside the entrance to the Intermodal Station at the Plaza de Espana, at Eusebio Estada 1, 07004 Palma.

There is a ticket office and small cafe serving drinks, snacks and takeaway food for the journey.

When you board the carriages of the train you feel a real sense of history, especially when the train departs with the old fashioned whistle blowing as it makes its way along the railway line.

There are a few local stops along the way. The first is at Son Sardina, before reaching the town of Bunyola. The train then continues into the mountainous Tramuntana region (Sierra de Alfàbia), through 13 tunnels, over several bridges and the 5 point Soller Viaduct. The scenery along the twists and turns of the mountains is breathtaking and because of the slow pace of the train, you have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the views.

When you reach Soller Station you can take the connecting Tram to Puerto Soller or perhaps first enjoy a coffee in the in one of the lovely cafes at Plaza de Constitucio beside the famous Church of Sant Bartomeu.

Soller Train Tickets

For the Palma to Soller Train, tickets must be purchased from the station Ticket Office on the actual day of travel. Unfortunately it is not possible to pay by credit card or purchase online in advance. You can buy single or return tickets.

For the Soller to Puerto de Soller tram journey, tickets can be purchased on-board the tram.

There is a discounted price if you buy a combination return ticket for both journeys. The only drawback with this option is that you have to decide the return journey time at the point of purchase.

Soller Tram

Soller Tram service has connected Soller and the Port (Puerto de Soller) since 1913. Historically, as well as being used as a means of local transport, the Tram was also used to bring goods to and from the Port. Freshly caught fish would be packed in ice and sent to Soller before being distributed to other towns and villages around Mallorca.

The Tram has 12 stops before reaching the final destination at Puerto de Soller - La Payesa.  See timetable for details.
